Genesis chapter 1: The identity and purpose a man.

I remember a life changing Word spoken by a man of God whom today I believe he's with the Lord. I'm talking about Dr Myles Monroe.

The Word of God was read from Genesis chapter 1, probably the most known chapter in the bible and arguably the most misunderstood as well. In his preaching he speaks of how God created the universe as we know. In this chapter you realise that spoke to a "thing" to "something" out of it. God's Words were not random. He spoke to a specific "thing" to create a specific "something" out of it. I know this sounds confusing so let me explain with examples.

Genesis 1:11 "And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, and the herbs yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, and whose seed was in itself, upon the earth: and it was so". Here we see God speaking to a "thing" which in this case is the earth, and out came exactly what God has said  (Genesis 1:12).
This goes on throughout this chapter. In verse 14 God speaks to the firmament and what He spoke to the firmament came out exactly what God said. Verse 20 God speaks to the waters and verse 24 to the earth again.

You see, God used a model to create something. 1st God had to have a purpose, and then choose the best suitable material to create something to fulfill that purpose. Example, when God need light over all of earth, He didn't randomly pick a material, if He had chosen for example the waters under the firmament to create life, we would have light but in the oceans and rivers and not covering earth. Hence He chose the firmament which is above earth.

This is important to understand because it will help understand my next point. When God created a man. He 1st looked at what was his purpose for man. God's purpose for man as described in Genesis 1:28 is to be fruitful, multiply, replenish earth, subdue earth and have dominion. Until now, all the creations had no dominion un them. We don't hear of the firmament, earth or the waters having dominion. So God in order to achieve this He needed a dominion material to work with.

So God looked into Himself. God does not have dominion, He is dominion. In other to achieve this purpose, God had to speak to Himself, the dominion material, and said Let us......

You are not random child of God, you were created with a specific purpose. You are not a mistake, maybe to your parents but to God you are a well thought and well planned baby. God Himself had to look within Himself to find the material that He needed to create you. There was no place else He could have found such material. You are dominion material.

'26 "And God said, Let us make man in our own image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. "
What is your image of God. If you had to describe God, in your imagination, what do you see? Well, look in the mirror, you are His image.
What is the character of God?  All powerful, all loving, all forgiving,???? Well, you have His likeness, His character. Nothing is impossible to God.

What do angels see when they look at you?  The see God, you are His image. You also have His character. My task for you from today is to find out what is the image of God and what is His character. And to do that you'll need to start reading and meditating in His Word. This is so because you can not be something you don't know. The devil will twist your mind and tell you lies about who you are if you don't know who you are. This is crucial child of God. Know who you are.

Another interesting phenomenon mentioned in the preaching is how each of the creations needed to remain attached in to the source in order to live. Look at the stars, they need to remain attached to the firmament in order to live. When a star leaves the firmament, it crushes and die. The trees, grass of the earth needed to remain attached to the ground in order to live. This goes to the fish as well. You see, all these creations needed to remain attached to its source in order to live. The minute it moves away from its source, it now exist in an abnormal state, and that leads to imminent dead.

Remaining attached to the source brings nourishment, fruitfulness and multiplication. Animals need earth to survive, that were they find they nourishment, from the grass or eating other animals. Human body, created from earth needs the ground as well to survive.
Everything needs to remain attached to a source it was created from in order to live.
Your spirit, which came from God needs to remain attached to God in order to live. Just as the body needs the ground, your spirit also needs it's source.

Matt 4:4 "But he (Jesus) answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God."

Your spirit needs God, without God your spirit operates in an abnormal state, with imminent dead awaiting.
Jesus says in John 15:5 "I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing."
Without God you can not do anything, but with God everything is possible. Matt 19:26 "Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible."

Your spirit don't want God, it needs God. Living without God is a state of abnormality for your spirit. Now that you read this, you can no longer live in ignorance of who you are, and what you need to change your world around. Turn to Christ now, for John 14:6 says "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

Let me end by this, John 3:16-17 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved."

Amen.
